Superintendent's
Welcome Message
On behalf of the Bennington community, I would like to welcome students, parents, staff, visitors, and community members to Bennington Public Schools. Established in 1892, the Bennington Public Schools has a long tradition of excellence in academics, activities, and athletics. Bennington has four elementary campuses, Bennington Middle School, and Bennington High School.
We are known for strong academic performance and a balanced educational program that demonstrates the highest levels of success by our students in academics, arts, and athletics. This is achieved by strong leadership from the Board of Education and by the hard work and talent of all of our employees in partnership with our valued families and community. The district is also fiscally responsible. Although Bennington is a high levy district, it has ranked in the bottom five percent in cost per student. The recognitions and achievements of Bennington Public Schools are many and the result of board and administrator leadership, teacher and staff dedication, community support, and parent involvement over an extended period of time.
The recent building blocks to which BPS stands on today have been developed by strong collaboration and open communication. The long-term plan developed by key stakeholders of our school district will allow us to provide quality learning environments and experiences for our growing number of students and families. It is through open communication and active partnerships between students, teachers, parents, businesses, and the community that our students will have access to significant, life-enriching learning experiences.
Bennington is a very attractive place to live and raise a family, and we are proud of the fact that our schools offer dynamic centers of learning and community for our students and their families. Greatness does not occur in isolation; rather, it is the collaborative efforts of many in the community that set a vision of excellence and provide appropriate resources to educate the next leaders of our community. I encourage you to continue to be or become actively involved in our school district and your particular school to help our students achieve greatness.
We are grateful for your support and continue to seek your ideas and feedback so Bennington Public Schools remains a vibrant place to be and a special destination district. Together we are building a community of learners.
Yours in Education,
Terry L. Haack
Superintendent of Schools
