August 16th
OBJECTIVE: Teachers meet/reconnect with their homeroom students. Teachers help students understand the process/schedule for the first day, disseminate materials, and begin building relationships/classroom community by utilizing the homeroom superhero activity.
August 22nd
OBJECTIVE: Students and teacher have the opportunity to interact with one another and have some fun learning about one another. Homerooms may need time to complete the Homeroom Superheroes capes/shields.
August 24th:
OBJECTIVE: This lesson helps establish the purpose of homeroom (developing 21st century skills, the opportunity to connect with a teacher/classmates not driven by academic learning/achievement/grades, etc.) Students work together to create a list of “rules” that their homeroom will follow to create a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for all students.
August 29th
OBJECTIVE: Students will be introduced to the Flex Scheduler tool and how it will be used this school year.
August 31st
OBJECTIVE: Students will be led through the process of requesting a teacher using the Flex Scheduler tool. This tool lets students request the teacher that they would like to meet with during Advisory sessions for extra academic help.
