This website is intended to provide all Bennington School District patrons information on the 2024 bond issue the Board of Education developed, with community input, to accommodate current and future enrollment. District patrons will vote on the $119 million bond issue in a special mail-in election on March 12, 2024.
The 2024 School Bond Issue will serve our current and future student population by building a second high school to accommodate the number of students that are currently in Bennington Public Schools. If the bond issue passes, the second high school is planned to open for the 2027-28 school year and would serve the current 5th-8th grade students.
The 2024 School Bond Issue’s goals are to:
- Keep the levy impact as low as possible.
- Create fairness between buildings to give students the same opportunities and facilities:
- Offer the same classes to students at both high schools.
- Expand Career and Technical Education at both high schools.
- Have the same facilities for activities and athletics at both high schools, if possible.
- Ensure high quality education with all facilities meeting the needs of both current and future students.
